In between Fast

Monday, August 29, 2011 0 comments
I ate at Inengs after a 24hour fast, then off to gym. Since according to the Eat-Stop-Eat book, we could go on for 3days fast without slowing down the metabolism. And so, I'm trying to fast again for another 24hours. I'll be eating tomorrow at 4PM. Hopefully, I'll lose more pounds. I had Saging and Sago Con Yelo + Pork Barbeque with Ensaladang Talong. So yummy!

After n years we finally meet again (0826). I think the last time we met is when I asked her to accompany me to buy a dress for my graduation which is 2003. We had lunch at Aveneto Megamall and just window shop around the mall.

We had leftovers wrapped up and they are a lot. We only ate portion of each meal.

First try: Eat-Stop-Eat by Brian Pilon

Thursday, August 25, 2011 0 comments

I’m trying to do the Eat-Stop-Eat of Brian Pilon. I read the book (pdf format) and basically it was telling us that to lose weight we need to restrict ourselves with the calorie intake. I think the 6 small meals are really effective, if you get to plan and prepare your food. But for normal employees who ate usually at fast foods that will be a tough job to do. I tried the 6 meals but I was not able to lose weight instead I gain 5-10 lbs. L It’s because it’s really not small meals, though healthy sandwiches they are still calories. The Eat-Stop-Eat is an intermittent fasting of 24 hours. It can be done once a week or twice a week. Then all the stored calories will be used during the fasting hours. Our body won’t slow down the metabolic rate as per his research since our bodies can go on for 3days without any food.

I originally plan to do this yesterday after lunch. But my colleagues invited me to eat Isaw at UP :( and so I gave in. I ate 11 sticks of Isaw and 1 big cone of Ice Cream (avocado, Mango, Cheese). I so I just started right after that (6pm).

And now I’m having another temptation, a colleague offered a brownie, I got two and decided to hide it first and will eat it later.  ^-^

 Patience is virtue ^-^

Happy 7th Birthday Jana

Saturday, August 20, 2011 0 comments
We went to Tabang, Bulacan to attend a Hannah Montana Themed Birthday party. It was a grand birthday for a 7 year old kid. She's John's cousin. There are food carts like Ice Cream, Cotton Candy, Hotdog, Fishball, Kikiam and Squid ball. Instead of the usual face paint, there's a kiddie salon where the girls are prettified. There's also kakanin or rice cakes available. For the main course, there's a palabok, spaghetti, pancit canton, lechon, beef, chicken, shrimp, cordon bleu. I'm already full after the hotdog and so I only ate a little off the main course.

I was not able to take a picture but if Achi got pics, I'll post it :)

Army - Navy

We had our after gym merienda at Army-Navy. It's located at 500 Shaw, near the Eclipse Gym. I ordered a Chicken Quesadilla, Mango Milkshake and John ordered Chicken Starving Sailor and Freedom Fries. It costs us 500+. I like the Quesadilla with the cheese in it. Next time, I'll make sure that I'll just order the Cheese quesadilla.

I was not that hungry because I was not able to do my exercise at the gym due to a small injury at my right wrist. And since I was busy watching the last episode of Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin I didn't mind not doing any exercise. ^-^

Happy 11th Month

Friday, August 19, 2011 0 comments
Today is my nephew's (Eugene Keane) 11th month. For sure, he won't be with us on his 1st birthday so I bought food for him to celebrate his 11th month birthday!

Just for a simple salo-salo, I bought a cake (which is always by default), and a bilao of Pancit Malabon. I asked my sister to buy 2 pcs of Chicken from Robina as well.

Chocolate Nelusko from Goldilocks

Breakfast @ Pancakes House

Had our breakfast or brunch today at Pancake House in Times Plaza, U.N.

John ordered the spicy chicken Fillet with Brown-Rice Pilaf, and I ordered the Home-Style Bangus. We got an additional Almodigas Soup which is like sa Misua soup with 3 meatballs. These costs us P500+. I really won't eat lunch anymore ^-^

It's quite good but not worth it. I would still prefer Jolibee breakfast or Mcdo.

Shrimp Cheongfan

I'm craving for something salty and spicy so I went to Le Ching to buy a dimsum. But the usual dimsum is quite expensive with very little serving. So I just ordered a different dimsum and it's the Shrimp Cheongfan. It's like a HAKAW but it's not enclosed. It costs only P88 while hakaw has the same value.

Cinnabon @ Moa
Before looking for a gift for Hanna last Aug 6, we rested for a while at Cinnabon. The Cinnabon is located at a Kiosk near the Food court near the Skating Rink. Since we are quite sleepy, we wanted to drink a coffee. And I wanted something sweet.

So we opt to had our merienda at Cinnabon.

Crepes & Cream  @  Megamall
Last August 7 we had our merienda here. I super love Crepes & Cream. Since we needed something that will give us energy I ordered the Kani Mango. Usually we ordered the Mango with Ice cream. But since we are preparing to go to the gym I chose something slightly heavy and healthy. John ordered bacon something. I forgot their names. hahah! Anyways, it won't be the last time.

Cranberry Juice for UTI -- Effective or Not?

Monday, August 15, 2011 0 comments
I got a Urinary Tract Infection last week. I was given Ofloxacin (Inoflox) 400mg this cost around P107 each. I need to take 2 tablets per day. I just finished taking the medicines that was prescribed. However, it feels like the UTI will reoccur. Upon research cranberry juice is good for preventing UTI. However, I got this contradicting findings:

Cranberry juice fights UTI

The researchers discovered that in petri dishes, cranberry metabolites in the juice prevented E. coli from sticking to other bacteria, limiting its ability to grow and multiply. If E. coli is able to connect with other bacteria, such as the bacteria found in the urinary tract, it forms a layer or "biofilm." This allows the bacteria to multiply and produce an infection.

Science-Based Medicine: Cranberry Juice

In the end, I would conclude that cranberry juice probably does not prevent UTI, and any effects are likely of little clinical value, given the relative rarity of organisms for which it could be effective. It would require a much larger study to prove or disprove efficacy, and not having proper microbiology renders all the studies to date probably worthless for coming up with worthwhile conclusions.

Other reference:

Cranberry juice fails to prevent recurrent urinary tract infection: results from a randomized placebo-controlled trial.

So is Cranberry juice effective for UTI or not? I wanted to buy Cranberry Juice pa naman, but I guess I will just stick to water. Lots and lots and lots of water. No alcoholic drinks, juices, fruit juices, soda, dairy drinks, yoghurt, etc. But I hope tea is okay. ^-^

Diet wrecker

If I will based the blog's URL, this blog should be more about a nutritional food blog. However, I was not able to update it with the nutrition facts and why it's really a diet wrecker. Anyways, I love food and it's really wrecking my diet.

Just like today, I plan to just eat minimal amount of food. I have a cucumber readied in case I got hungry. I ate just 1 cheese cup cake and 1 piso-pack of happy peanuts. But but but but.... my colleague offered a chicharon. And it totally ruined my supposed to be diet. Anyways, I only get 1piece which I think is roughly 200calories. :( And so, here I am drinking tea. ^-^

1 cheese cup cake is 110 calories, the piso pack Happy peanuts is 45 calories. Cucumber 45 calories, and the chicharon.

As for my calorie requirement....   Goodluck!

Yakimix

We had our team dinner last Friday (Aug 12) at Yakimix, Trinoma. It costs 599 for the eat all u can buffet and 75 for the drink all you can. I don't like the choices of food to be cooked since most of them are just bacon wraps. I was not able to eat a lot because my colleagues doesn't eat a lot :( and I was told that taking of pictures are not allowed. Overall Yakimix isn't my first choice for eat-all-u-can. Well, I can't be choosy since it's just free. ^-^

Dedication Party

Went to Hongkong Chef to celebrate my "inaanak"'s Dedication party last Saturday August 6. It's somewhat a baptism if compared to Catholic rites.

Johanna Rachel Salde Dante was born last March 10, 2011. She's already 5 months.

Here's the invitation given to us my Rona when we met at Friday's. Upon arriving at the venue, we were asked of our name and to our surprise there is a table alloted for us. Great planning Rona dear!

Les + John are invited

We arrived before 6PM. While waiting for the party to start, we help ourselves with the Taho and Scramble. There is an available body-painting or face-painting for kids. We could try it out as well, but we didn't dare. There's also a photobooth for everyone.
Party Concepts

Photobooth with Marlon, Rhay, and John

Then the main event took place we're we dedicate Hanna to the Lord. It's like we are offering Hanna to God so that he will be one who will rule over her. It's not like Baptism, because Baptism is when she can already accept Christ as her Lord and Saviour.

with my Kumare's and Kumpare's

After the ceremony, food is now served. Food is good, however, we are placed with guys in the table so I can only get limited quantity. Good thing I'm not that hungry due to the Taho and Scramble.

The party was really a success! We had fun and what's really important is that I'm now Kumare's with my forever mean gel friends.

Lydia's Lechon

Thursday, August 4, 2011 0 comments
The marketing was able to sell the UML device. They were given a budget for the food to celebrate. Aside from the usual food in Amber's (Pancit and Pichi-pichi) there is an additional food from Kanin Club - Technohub (Stuffed Squid, Seafood Kare-Kare) and the highlight is the -- Lydia's Lechon. It was really surprising that there is a Lechon at the office. And it only costs P5800. I was not able to take a pic of the other food but I have a pic of the lechon. And so, I still have my ordered lunch for dinner later.

I never like the skin of the lechon, but this time I tried it and it is so crispy.

We ordered Appetizer first then Grilled Chicken and Shrimp, and Chicken and mushroom. The serving is huge but just right for the 3 of us. It costs us P2300+ with drinks.

It was a night of catching up with updates over a good food. Until next Saturday where we will celebrate Baby Hanna's Dedication.

Chiggys

After gym, we went to Chiggy's for late dinner.
We ordered the usual Chicken Inasal (P130) and an extra Jumbo Liempo (P120). I like the Combo Jumbo Liempo much better. Because the one we had last night is grilled.
